David Richelsoph brings more than two decades of experience in U.S. foreign policy and government service to the SNF Agora Institute. Over a 25-year career in federal service, he worked in senior roles at the U.S. Department of State, the White House, the U.S. Senate, and the Office of the Vice President. Most recently, he served as a program manager at the State Department, following assignments as a Pearson Fellow in the office of Senator Brian Schatz and as Special Advisor for South Asian Affairs in the Office of the Vice President. Earlier in his career, he was director for South Asian affairs on the National Security Council staff.

As a Foreign Service Officer, Richelsoph led diverse, international teams and managed programs in regions experiencing significant political and humanitarian challenges, including serving as Afghanistan team lead in the Office of Refugee Admissions. His work has focused on advancing U.S. diplomatic priorities, managing large-scale programs, and mentoring colleagues in leadership and strategy.

Richelsoph earned a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College and a B.A. in international relations from William & Mary.
