James Robinson is a political scientist and economist as well as the co-author of the international bestseller, Why Nations Fail:The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty. He is the Pearson Professor of Global Conflict and serves as Institute Director for the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts at the University of Chicago. Focused on Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, his research examines the underlying relationship between poverty, institutions of a society and political conflicts.
