Naomi Joseph (she/her/hers) is a Doctoral Candidate in Sociology and Asian American Studies from the UC Santa Barbara (UCSB). She studies Black liberation, cross-racial solidarity, social movements, and South Asian American activism. Before coming to UCSB, she worked as a Senior Analyst for Abt Associates in the DC metro area. Naomi is a founding co-convener of the UCSB Asian American Studies Collective and past President of the UCSB Asian Pacific Islander Graduate Student Alliance. She was awarded the Dixon-Lexy Service Award from UCSB in 2020 and the Graduate Enrichment Fellowship from the UCSB Sociology Department in 2021. Naomi holds a Masters in Sociology from UCSB, a Masters in Public Policy from the University of Michigan, and Bachelors degrees in International Relations and English from Michigan State University.
