Governments turn to algorithms to allocate welfare and housing. Social media companies rely on algorithms to show users content. What are the impacts of this increasing reliance on algorithmic decision-making? This Intersession course is about the political and social implications of algorithms, where students will unpack the key dilemmas confronting government, industry, and civil society using cutting-edge case studies. Students will then propose potential regulatory, policy, and technological solutions to such problems. Invited speakers will include thought leaders from both industry and academia.
