Are you interested in becoming a research assistant to support the Center for Economy and Society’s ongoing faculty research projects?
The Center for Economy and Society
The SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University, founded in 2017, is a multi-disciplinary academic and public forum dedicated to strengthening global democracy by improving and expanding civic engagement and inclusive dialogue, and by supporting inquiry that leads to real-world change. By building integrated partnerships with scholars, practitioners, students, and the public, we use research to identify and sharpen strategic choices that members of the public and civic and political stakeholders around the world can make to realize the promise of democracy.
Within the Institute, the Center for Economy and Society is a multidisciplinary research and teaching initiative dedicated to reinvigorating debates about politics, economics, society and culture and identifying new possibilities for change. CES aims to establish itself as an intellectually diverse hub for cutting-edge political economy research and teaching. By facilitating engagement across a spectrum of views, CES aspires to serve as a wellspring for pioneering research and pedagogy that pushes the boundaries of political economy discourse.
Overview of Student Research Assistant Opportunities
The Center for Economy and Society at the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic undergraduate research assistants to support ongoing faculty research projects.
Eligibility and Selection
The award is open to all undergraduates who have formally declared the Moral and Political Economy major. Undergraduate RAs will be matched with CES faculty and fellows associated with the Center for Economy and Society. Successful applicants will be paid $15/hour to perform work relevant to a research or public project undertaken by a CES faculty member or postdoctoral fellow. RA hours are flexible and vary across projects. Individual students will have the opportunity to receive a maximum of $1,500 for their work on an academic project over the course of each academic year for the next three academic years (AY 2024-25; 2025-26; 2026-27).
Application Process
Students interested in applying to the RA pool should submit their application using this Google Form. The MPE major will create an internal database of students who have expressed interest in these research positions, and will periodically publicize that list with its faculty and postdoctoral fellows. When faculty or fellows find a potential match, students will be encouraged to apply directly for the position through the SMILE platform.
