SNF Agora Conversations: Diversity and Democracy

Join the SNF Agora Institute for a series of discussions about how diversity and identity shape modern democracy. For today’s deeply pluralistic democracies to work, citizens of all backgrounds, perspectives, and ideologies must be empowered to participate. Shared identity can bond groups and build power, but it can also deepen divides, impeding our ability to see the full diversity within cultures, within groups, and even within ourselves. What limits do we place on ourselves and on our fellow citizens when we try to sort entire segments of society into ideological blocs? How can we break down monolithic understandings of identity and embrace the diversity in thought and perspective within and among identities?
