Activists will learn ways to include participatory ways of running their own organization, and how to push for participatory practices within their own activism, like participatory budgeting.

    Madison Rock

    Senior Civic Health Program Coordinator, Center for the Future of Arizona Rock is passionate about guiding young people through self-empowerment, innovative problem solving, and developing strong, resilient communities. At the Center for the Future of Arizona, she supports strategies to improve civic health, including participatory budgeting, where students make decisions over a portion of the district’s budget.

  • Daniel Schugurensky

    Professor, Arizona State University; Director, Participatory Governance Initiative Schugurensky is a professor in the School of Public Affairs at Arizona State University, where he is the founding director of the Participatory Governance Initiative, the director of the master's in social and cultural pedagogy, and the coordinator of the graduate and the undergraduate certificates in social transformation.

  • Tara Bartlett

    Co-Manager of the Civic Education + Community Engagement (CE2) Program Bartlett has been a social studies and English language arts educator of 14 years, and is a doctoral student in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University.
